Hi! In the 2024-25 academic year I was a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Government at Harvard University. Recently, I defended my PhD in Philosophy at the Freie University Berlin titled Meritocracy and Moral Inequality.
My research focuses on moral and political philosophy and issues of public policy. I am particularly interested in debates about meritocracy and the (in)justice of inequality.
I am working to publish my PhD as a book and writing a non-academic book in German arguing against the idea that economic inequalities can be deserved.
This academic year, I teach the courses Justice by Michael Sandel (Fall 2024) and What is a Republic? by Daniel Carpenter (Spring 2025) at Harvard College.
Beyond academia, I am strongly interested in public debates on inequality and the future of democracy. I have worked with foundations, public institutions, and private companies and aim to publish work that bridges philosophical argumentation with pressing contemporary issues.
I hold a BA in Philosophy and Economic History from the University of Göttingen, an MSc in Philosophy and Public Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE), and an MA in Philosophy from Humboldt University Berlin. I was a visiting fellow at Harvard University in Spring 2023, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025, and a visiting student at Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2016-17.
